OUR STORY
How We Started
The gym was founded by Lynn Wingert of Chippewa Falls, who has a lifetime of experience with the sport of gymnastics. Lynn began gymnastics at one of the nation's most recognized Olympic-level programs, Parkettes National Gymnastic Training Center in Allentown, PA, where she became a national level competitor and the Pennsylvania IAA All-Around State Champion. Lynn earned an NCAA Division 1 college gymnastics scholarship to California State University, Fullerton, which won 2nd and 3rd place national finishes. Lynn later competed for West Virginia University and worked as a graduate assistant coach. In the years that followed, Lynn remained active with gymnastics as a team coach, official and parent of two gymnasts.
When her family moved from Phoenix, Arizona to Chippewa Falls in 2007, Lynn dreamed of bringing a high-level gymnastics program to an area that had never experienced it before. It took years to find a suitable location and a successful petition to change the Eau Claire city zoning laws to allow a gymnastics school to operate in an industrial park, but Ultimate Performance Gymnastics held it's grand opening on Feb. 19, 2012, and met with great success. In early 2014, Lynn partnered with Tara Krista, also from Chippewa Falls, to add all-star cheer and re-launched the business as Ultimate Performance Gymnastics & Cheer. Construction began that spring on a new gymnastics and cheer facility to accommodate both programs. UPGC now employs over 25 coaches in addition to support staff at its state-of-the-art facility in Lake Hallie.
